Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist
I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with Mindful Heart Counseling Center in San Luis Obispo.
I received both my Master of Science and Bachelor of Science degrees in Psychology from Cal Poly. Over the last 5 years I have been connected with community organizations such as San Luis Obispo (SLO) Counseling Center at Cal Poly, Big Brothers Big Sisters of SLO County, Family Care Network and Seneca Family of Agencies offering services to adults, children and families. Within my work in these organizations I have been honored to witness the pain of disconnection and the power of repair, reconnection and healing and the joy that inevitably follows.
I enjoy working with children, adolescents, individuals and couples who are facing self-esteem/ self-worth concerns, relational issues, parenting struggles and those who seek to buffer the stressors of life. I also have experience with anxiety, depression, PTSD and relational distress and I have completed Advanced Training in Emotionally Focused Therapy - a well researched and highly effective approach to couples therapy. It is my passion to help you discover the strengths you already carry inside of you and to help you develop stronger, more deeply connected relationships.
In this way, much of our work together will be cultivating resilience in your world, both with yourself and others. We will explore values, relationships, meaning and where you desire healing. We will be curious at how you talk to yourself, patterns you’ve experienced in your life, the emotions you can identify, those you can’t and how these manifest for you, as well as what the outcomes are both relationally and individually. We will walk towards self-compassion and curiosity of self/ world so that you may be intentional in your life, your choices and relationships and experience increased moments of peace, connection, and hope.
My work is authentic, collaborative and creative and I enjoy the use of metaphors, music, drama, play, humor and art. My training, experience and passion is deeply rooted in considering all aspects of our world and being and I strive to honor diversity in all ways of life including race, religion, gender, and sexuality. I recognize that our work together will be unique, in this way respecting your unique life experience.
We live in a stressful society. Life can be unpredictable and overwhelming…but there’s hope. It is my heart’s desire to find that hope with you; to honor your values and experiences and walk with you towards healing, growth, meaningfulness and joy.
